Biofuels By Tom Parsons Biofuels Biofuel is any fuel that is made from biomass. It usually comes from living organisms or their byproducts, such as manure from cows or plants. It is a renewable energy, unlike other natural resources such as gas, coal and oil. The carbon in biofuels was taken from atmospheric carbon dioxide by growing plants, so burning it does not result in a net increase of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere. Pro’s Biofuels do not add to the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere Biofuels are renewable and can keep being replaced. Biofuels do not contribute towards global warming Biofuels can be readily used in modern day objects. E.g. cars and heaters Con’s The shift from gasoline to biofuels, given the number of gas only cars already on the road and the lack of ethanol or biodiesel pumps at existing filling stations, would take some time I would also be hard to produce enough crops to make biofuels, to meet the damand for them It is also argued that producing biofuels actually requires more energy than they can generate
